Cuba
Comes To Oaxaca
Think Havana nights: A tropical breeze blows and palms
sway as you sit under a palapa. Cuban Tropicana dancers perform on
large-screen televisions as you sip mojitos and snack on fried bananas.
This is Quimbao, a new night spot in Colonia Reforma,
Las Rosas 125.
The real treat is Cuban-born singer Osmani “Manny” Cruz
Pena. His silky voice, strong and sexy, is Cuban to the core.
¨
Manny¨ was born in El Yarey Oriente de Cuba and began formal training
as a singer at age 9. By 15, he had joined the famous Tropicana Show
in Havana. He left Cuba in 1998, touring with the Tropicana troup overseas.
He’s making the rounds in Mexico now and will be in Oaxaca indefinitely.
He is appearing at Quinbao Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 8 p.m.
until 2 a.m. He also is available for private parties (044 951 190
8828).
